ABOUT

Konstantinos Perakis is an architectural designer whose creative journey began with a degree in "Highest Theoretical Music Studies" from the National Odeon of Greece in 2010. Driven by a passion for art and architecture, he expanded his horizons through extracurricular activities before delving into design studies.

Throughout his five-year curriculum, Konstantinos honed his expertise in theoretical design studies and explored sustainable design models. His academic journey culminated in the publication of his thesis titled "Compressed Earth Blocks: Investigating the Mechanical Properties of CEB from Regions of Syros," aimed at exploring the viability of earth blocks as a construction material.

With a Diploma in Product and Systems Design Engineering acquired in 2016, Konstantinos transitioned into the realm of architecture. He immersed himself in architectural design and construction processes while collaborating with a developers' firm in Athens, Greece.

Driven by a desire to further his architectural acumen, Konstantinos pursued a Master's degree in Architecture, Building, and Planning at the Technical University of Eindhoven from 2018 to 2020. During this transformative period, he delved into theoretical and philosophical aspects of architecture, particularly focusing on design adaptability and sustainability. His master's thesis, exploring the concept of "Autonomous Architecture" through the lens of Cornelius Castoriadis' philosophies, exemplifies his commitment to innovative design practices.

Returning to Greece, Konstantinos embarked on a multifaceted journey bridging theory and practice. He commenced a Ph.D. thesis at the National Technical University of Athens, titled "Chance and Mistake in the Design Process: Observing and Interpreting their Contribution in Design," delving into the creative potential inherent in mistakes and errors within the design process. Concurrently, he channels his expertise as a freelance architectural designer, collaborating with construction and building development companies to create diverse projects.

Konstantinos' architectural pursuits are deeply rooted in his theoretical research, with a focus on housing units, public spaces, and administration buildings. His overarching goal is to leverage architecture as a catalyst for positive change within our ecosystem, social dynamics, and biosphere, emphasizing sustainability and social impact as integral components of his practice.
